Sourcecode saga update

After sending a copy of the email petition from here, I got a response from Kathrein.

They say they will not publish the sourcecode on their website, only by CD and for a cost of 15 euro plus VAT and shipping. Additionally, the only sourcecode available is that mentioned on their website. (so not possible to have a diseqc 1.2 modification)

Additionally, they say they have no plans for diseqc 1.2 in the future.

I have complained that they do not have the source code for download, they only sell it on CD to cover their "expenses" I have never seen a CD that costs 15 euro to burn!

They are dragging their heels big time on this, I'd love to know why. Surely development of the box will lead to a higher demand!

I think problem is that Kathrein itself does not do the SW.
It is done in Korea by http://marusys.com/.
As we all have seen quality is not the first thing in those guys SW.

Only hope to get good sw to kathrein is to put enigma2 and stlinux together.

It seems that kathrein hw is designed like ST rereference board. (HMS1).

There is rumors around that enigma2 is already ported to kathrein, but at this stage is a bit unstable, and not public. If it ever will go public, I have no idea. Kathrein would need to get things sorted out soon, there are some other manufacturers who are very close to releasing boxes with more features and at similar prices.

So far I can say is, I do now the company http://marusys.com/, they are in KOREA with office in german also.

What i can say about them is, very clear they are not good software engeniers , they are class C...

I am have been trying to deal with them , so far not exeperince at all.

They send us few Sample for test in fac was S 8000 same as C 8000 , IBM 450 new pallas technology better then 440 linux, the good stuff is only MPEG2 supporting uncompresed SD to convert in to a similar HD, using HDMI port .

When get the box in our hands it was very impresive, at time we switch ON to make test, we was very DISAPOINTED, LACK and Redicule Linux frimware, I can see now how Kati UFS910 user was so frustated, paying with a box with good hardware and poor support.

I am from USA , we have a great team called 'X Team " we have been work hard in IBM 405-440 and 450 pallas, and the box has big potential, but for the price is risky , is better getting a DB 7020 0r 7025 , and is better choice...

now if they make a trun over and get good help from good coder, box will beat DB,reelbox and others,,, very quick.

Marusys is the developer and software maker,, I see for Kti soruce was release, I was impresive when i found they did.

Well actually we dont need Kathreins support any longer since team Ducktales were able to port enigma2 to the UFS910 and released an first alpha image a few days ago. There is still a lot to fix but the image (booted from nfs) seems already pretty solid.
